The ECF web site is maintained using a documentation system called "MOD" that was developed here at the Environment Institute. MOD stands for Minimalist Online Documentation, and its goals are to make it as easy as possible to create and maintain a documentation-oriented web site such as this one.
No knowledge of html is necessary, although you have the option of making your documents as html-rich as you'd like. The navigation tree that appears on the left is automatically created and maintained by the MOD interpreter "mod2html". The URLs that are generated for the web pages are very predictable and easy to read.
