| This course deals with geologic processes that impact human activities. | |||||||
| No previous training in geology is required for the course, | |||||||
| although we will use some basic high school chemistry and physics. | |||||||
| The class meets each week for 3 lectures (1PM, MWF) and 1 required discussion section, | |||||||
| as indicated in the time schedule. A lecture time schedule is attached. | |||||||
| Books for the course are: | |||||||
| 1) Murck, Skinner, and Porter, 1996, Environmental Geology: John Wiley, New York. | |||||||
| 2) Foley, McKenzie, and Utgard, 1999, Investigations in Environmental Geology 2nd Ed., Prentice Hall | |||||||
| Both are available at local bookstores. | |||||||
| Grading will be based on two hour exams, the final exam, and discussion tests/assignments. | |||||||
| Grades will be calculated using the following weightings: | |||||||
